The Eldest by mandaren The Eldest by mandaren
There once was an empire that was ruled by a wise emporer and his lovely bride. They had two beautiful daughters, Makoto, the eldest, and Daiyu. The ruler loved his daughters and promised them the world, for he had great faith that they would grow into powerful leaders. To the eldest, he promised his kingdom, and to his youngest, he gave the Sacred Scrolls of his Kingdom, Belasia to guard and protect.

However, all of that changed the day he learned that the Emporian capital, Tadington had fallen in war. Immediately, he feared for his throne and legacy. A woman could not carry on his name, and would bear children for another legacy. Women were emotional and weak. Immediately, Makoto was stripped of her position as the heir and Daiyu, who once was able to roam the city freely, became imprisoned to the palace.

A new desire burned within- a longing for a son that could take his throne and keep his legacy and kingdom safe. His wife, Ai, begged him to reconsider his brash actions, but he refused to return honor to his daughters and left them disgraced and considered them to be no better than the slaves that had served them.

Distressed at the harsh treatment of her beloved daughters, Ai grew sick, and even though she conceived, she grew weaker with the pregnancy. In her attempts to bring her child into the world, she died while her son lived. Makoto, seeing how much the tides had turned against her, refused to let her fate be decided by others and fled from her homeland lest she repeat her mother's life.

The Emperor was distraught at the loss of his wife and the dissappearance of his eldest child. Even though he had his son, his heir to the throne, he felt alone and miserable. Turning to Daiyu, he immediately restore her position as well as her honor and rights and apologized for his actions. However, he would never would see his eldest, Makoto ever again.

This is Makoto Ichego, a princess of the Kingdom Belasia. Belasia is a land that is a cross between Chinese and Japanese when it comes to the culture and the tradtions of its people.

Makoto leads a double life- as a former princess of Belasia, she offers her services to her father under an alias- Makoto Horoyama, and acts as a liaison for her country to all other countries in Rhodinia dressed as a Beliesian Noble Woman. However, she also uses that same alias as a Captain of Beliesian Sky Priates. However, her crew thinks her a castrati who dresses in drag to act as a spy during diplomatic meetings to get in.

The gown Makoto is wearing in this picture is a traditional Chinese Hanfu. It is still not complete since I am still deciding how I want to detail the gown itself.

This is another character in my stories, Makoto Ichego.

Oh my sweet nibblets. Did you reference the gown at all?! This looks very nice, I bet it would look even better in color though.

I want to stick to a red, gold, and black color theme when I color it. However, that all depends on how I decide to detail the gown in the end.

I looked up a few referances for the Chinese Hanfu after seeing a few pictures from a few artists here on DA. That was just to get familiar with the design of the dress. After sketching out the traditional dress, I began to add more to it.
